‘4000 ALPHABETS AND LETTER MOTIFS’ is a genealogical exploration and collection of Scripts and Alphabets. Their formation and story line is examined in the first section of the book, from the ancient Egyptian and Sinai Desert models down through the Phoenician, Greek and Etruscan scripts to the Roman alphabet. This book is constructed as both an instructional manual and as a sourcebook. Alphabet families are grouped together for your instruction, convenience and inspiration and ordered chronologically. This bequeathed inheritance includes scripts from the Phoenicians, Greeks and Etruscans.
Included in this book are alphabets gathered from the Romans, the Romanesque era, the Visigoths, Celts, Anglo-Saxons, from the Gothic and Humanistic period and the English Round Hands that we use today. Here lies the value in this book, that an appreciation of historic lettering will allow the reader to develop their own styles of writing and lettering.
Also in this publication is a comprehensive collection of several thousand letter motifs arranged from the letter A to the letter Z, as well as a compilation of alphabets by the author for your personal use. This book includes a CD containing all the artwork in the book for your electronic convenience.

‘400 ART DECO MOTIFS’ focuses on the style of design that emerged in the 1920’s. This artform which glorified the modern world was characterised by inspirational and optimistic motifs and forms such as sunbursts, scallops, zigzags, lightning bolts, spirals and cloud billows. Motifs such as wings and gears also conveyed society’s keen interest in fast locomotives and motor cars. Art Deco is a decorative style as its name implies, but more than this - it is a style encompassing form and mass. This book comprehensively explores these new forms as well as the decorative; presenting these designs in a functional fashion for your use and inspiration.
These motifs have been sourced from jewellery, art pottery, statues, motorcars, household appliances and object d’art from around the world. It is this breadth of sourcing that explains why Art Deco lends itself so well to all modern day crafts, hobbies and pursuits. If you are an Embroiderer, Quilter, Wood Carver, Fabric Painter or Scrap Booker (to name a few) this publication will supply you with a wellspring of inspiring images. From within this generous collection of motifs, borders and patterns, you will find the precise image you are looking for to inspire you or to complete your project. A CD is included in this book.

Chinese art is a result of a long and rich legacy, stretching back several thousand years. This endowment is of unrivalled consistency and expression and has bestowed on this present age an unparalleled gift. The inspiration appears to be inexhaustible, and each year’s archaeological discoveries bring more wondrous artefacts to our appreciative eyes.
For the motif hunter – “400 Chinese Motifs’ is a veritable treasure chest. I have sourced motifs from the full expression of Chinese creativity. Some of these sources are ceramics, paintings, bronze vessels, jade carvings, architecture and sculpture. The motifs and patterns are all both beautiful and functional. If your passion is for structure or line, texture or pattern, form or shape - I maintain you will find what you seek in this publication.
Added to this appeal is the wide functionality of Chinese art and its varied topics. It lends itself generously to all the crafts and hobbies. The lush floral motifs and borders will most certainly benefit all the Needlework crafts, from Embroidery to Tapestry. The Stenciller, Woodcarver, Scrap booker, Leather worker, Card maker or Fabric Painter, Art Teacher or Art Student will find this book an invaluable addition to their bookshelves. A CD is included in this publication. |

Writing and illustrating books is time
consuming, but a most rewarding process. I am currently working on
three books. One is a sourcebook on Anthropological (human form) Design, a manual on How To design and a book on Folk Art. Two new source books are planned for 2010, one on Art Nouveau and the second on Japanese Art to add to the 400 motif mini-series books.
